Great story Paul, keep em up.

Got a question for you though, only a ref or past ref can answer. Why is the the penalties called different in the playoffs then the regular season? I can't think of another sport where it changes in the playoffs. If someone trips someone it should be two minutes regardless of the importance of the game.

Also, wouldn't the game be served better if someone who gets two minutes whether a goal is scored or not. I think it would make guys think twice about getting a penalty if the other team can get a full two minutes maybe scoring not one but a few goals in that time.

I guess Stevens was "acceptable" to you then?

you lost any credibility with me after what you had to say about how you dealt with Lindros almost ten years after he tore up your posters......here's your quote:

" I did NOT go out of my way to "invent" penalties on Lindros -- or any player -- but I wasn't going to give that guy a break on anything borderline that I might have let slide with a player who had gained acceptability with me."

that's what's wrong with how refs calls these games...it's supposed to be unbiased no matter who the player is or situation....a penalty on one player should be a penalty on another whether or not he has gained your "acceptability"

it's a shame because reading your former articles I thought you were a straight shooter but by your own words you're not....I won't be reading your stories anymore...
